Kooskia

The town of Kooskia is well known as the jumping off point for hunters, hikers, fishermen and floaters.

Kooskia is nestled at the mouth of two of Idaho County’s most beautiful rivers–the South Fork and the Middle Fork of the Clearwater River drainage.

Kooskia’s existence as a town dates from the construction of the railroad line up the river in 1899. The weather is pleasant nearly year-round due to an altitude of 1,140 feet. Kooskia also makes an ideal base of operation for chasing steelhead in the spring.

There is also a grocery store, gas stations, a bank, hardware store, laundromat and other businesses.
